I've been feeling apprehensive about inking some non-kaiju stuff that I really don't want to screw up so I pulled out an older piece I'd began to pencil but never really figured out where I wanted to take it and I used it as practice.

I call it, "F*ck you, I'm Rodan!"

This is simply my own idealized version of Rodan - combining aspects of the 56, 64, and 04 suits - placed into the context of the classic 1956 film. Though this is not a true VERSUS NEO piece, it IS the design I will be using for that series and I may not do a separate Rodan piece for it (Fire Rodan, on the other hand...).

Now that you mention it, original!Rodan did have a rather broad, almost lip-like beak layout. Reshaping that a bit does work here.

Be honest: do I come off as a colossal, or "merely" towering twit?

Solid, imposing design-fusion here. The O.G. head looks more than suitably sinister (seriously, what was with the Ghidrah suit's derp-eyes & chicken- beak?); the chest-armor is pleasantly rugged; and I'm truly digging those nice thick arms/wing fingers/digits. Unlike, say, the Heisei version, this Rodan looks built to handle a bit of toe-to-toe with any ground-pounding contender. Perhaps the cranial horns could use a bit of embellishment, but hey-gotta save something for Fire Rodan when/if that comes around.

Ah, and not that this hasn't been covered above, but your layout demonstrates a fine sense of perspective.

I actually really like the GtTHM version of Rodan. You may notice in the description that I was channeling that design a bit here - that is, I intentionally modified the width and shape of the beak to resemble the narrower bird beak of the '64 suit. It's subtle, because it's not as... beak-y but the thought process was definitely present.

Spoilers: VERSUS NEO Fire Rodan will almost the same as regular Rodan.
